Who are we?
The Asociación Educativa Comunitaria San Pedro El Alto is a non-profit organization born from the educational needs of the community's families. We propose a different educational system that breaks with the usual in Antigua Guatemala and seeks to form children capable of facing the challenges of the contemporary world, using art, music, nature, and community life as pillars of learning.

Waldorf pedagogy is a holistic educational philosophy that seeks to nurture the complete development of the human being. By integrating the academic, artistic, and practical, it shapes creative, autonomous individuals with a profound sense of purpose.
Respectful Development
Adapted to each child's developmental stages, it promotes natural and organic growth, free from premature or standardized pressures.
Integral Education
It cultivates intellect, emotions, and will (head, heart, and hands), fostering balanced and meaningful learning.
Nurturing Creativity
It prioritizes arts, music, and imaginative play as essential tools for discovery and individual expression.
Experiential Learning
Unlike traditional education, it focuses on practical experience and direct connection with the environment, moving beyond rote memorization.
Our Pedagogical Approach: Multi-grade Model and Individualized Attention
We operate with two small groups, each with a maximum of 8-10 children:
  • Group 1: Children aged 3-6.
  • Group 2: Children aged 7-10 (will go up to 6th grade)
The multi-grade model fosters a dynamic where older children reinforce their learning by guiding younger ones, explaining concepts and solving problems together.
Our methodology is designed for each child to advance at their own pace, respecting their individual abilities and maturity level.

A Different Primary School
Imagine a magical school surrounded by more than 12,000 m² of forest and nature where children are happy while learning:
  • Our teachers are passionate guides: they awaken curiosity with stories, songs, art, and adventures. They inspire children to discover the world!
  • The school is a community where families, teachers, and students grow together in respect and collaboration.
  • There are open and outdoor spaces everywhere: an organic garden for planting and harvesting, a garden for playing, a forest for exploring, nature excursions... Learning outside is a pure adventure!
  • Each child is unique and learns at their own pace: in small groups (maximum 8-10 children), older children help younger ones, and everyone progresses happily, without rush or comparison.
  • Technology is used carefully and only when it truly helps (following the Waldorf spirit): for example, Khan Academy for fun and personalized math reviews, along with other simple digital tools that support learning without replacing hands, heart, or nature. The main thing is always to learn with the body, imagination, and the loving attention of a teacher who knows you well!
  • The most beautiful thing is that your child is happy. They learn to be empathetic, to work in teams, to respect each other, and to care for others. Thanks to this atmosphere of community and affection, bullying has no place... everyone feels valued and safe, just like at home!
